The application fee payment deadline for a 2023-2024 academic year degree program start (September 2023) is November 30, 2022. Your supporting documents must be submitted by December 9, 2022.
Applicants can upload their transcripts and their CV as they complete the online application form. By November 30, 2022, applicants pay the SGS application fee in the applicant status portal after submitting their application form. All other required materials for their program (e.g. statement of academic intent, maximum two letters of reference uploaded by the referees with an institutional email address) must be uploaded by December 9, 2022 in the applicant status portal after the applicant submits the application form.

The objective of the CGS M Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.
Minimum Admission Requirements
- A four-year bachelor's degree in a relevant pro¬gram from a recognized university with an average of at least B+, or equivalent, in the final year.
- Maximum two letters of reference.
- Statement of academic intent.
- Applicants whose primary language is not English, and who graduated from a university where the lan¬guage of instruction and examination is not English are required to meet the School of Graduate Studies English-language facility requirements
Program Requirements
- Depending on the amount of undergraduate preparation, students may be enrolled in either a two-year program or a one-year program. Students can also complete the MA through a coursework option or course work combined with a thesis.
- The MA program may be taken on a part-time basis.
MA Program (One-Year Option)
Program Requirements
Coursework Option:
- Students must complete 3.0 full-course equivalents (FCEs).
Thesis Option:
- Students must complete a thesis (1.0 FCE) under the guidance of a supervisor on a topic approved by the supervisor.
- Students must complete 2.0 full-course equivalents (FCEs).
Program Length

MA Program (Two-Year Option)
Program Requirements
All students must complete 6.0 full-course equivalents (FCEs). Students who choose to focus on Islamic art and material culture must successfully at least 2.0 FCEs each in art and in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations.
Coursework Option:
- Students must complete 6.0 FCEs.
Thesis Option:
- Students must complete a thesis (1.0 FCE) under the guidance of a supervisor on a topic approved by the supervisor.
- Students must complete 5.0 FCEs in coursework
