Language Course Assessment Questionnaires

 

Courses:

Students interested in enrolling in introductory language courses must complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire for their chosen language. This ensures appropriate course placement based on your language background and proficiency.

 

Academic Integrity

 

Misrepresenting your knowledge of a language is considered an academic offence and may result in serious consequences, including immediate removal from the course.

Please refer to the  Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters for more information.

To this end, all must acknowledge that seeking credit or other advantages by fraud or misrepresentation, or seeking to disadvantage others by disruptive behaviour is unacceptable, as is any dishonesty or unfairness in dealing with the work or record of a student.”

 

Arabic (NML110Y1) – Language Assessment Process

 

Arabic Language Assessment Questionnaire Link: Arabic Language Course Assessment Questionnaire – Fill out form

IMPORTANT: Students may enrol during the enrolment period; however, they should complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire by the final deadline.

Process:

  • Arabic Language Assessment Questionnaire will be available on July 1, 2026
  • Students enrol in the course during the enrolment period.
  • Students should complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire by August 15 (first deadline).
  • If a student’s assessment is not approved, the instructor will contact the student for an interview to determine appropriate placement.
  • Students who do not complete the questionnaire by September 13 (the final deadline) will be removed from the course and notified by email.

 

Turkish (NML270Y1 & NML370Y1) – Language Assessment Process

IMPORTANT: Students may enrol during the enrolment period; however, they should complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire by the final deadline.

Process:

  • Turkish Language Assessment Questionnaire will be available on July 1, 2026
  • Students enrol in the course during the enrolment period.
  • Students should complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire by August 15 (first deadline).

Persian (NML260Y1 & NML360Y1) – Language Assessment Process (Restricted Enrolment)

 

Persian Language Assessment Questionnaire Link: Persian Language Course Assessment Questionnaire – Fill out form

IMPORTANT: Enrolment is subject to approval based on assessment results. It will only be approved after the Language Assessment Questionnaire has been submitted and reviewed by the instructor.

Process:

  • Students must complete the Language Assessment Questionnaire before enrolment can be approved.
  • If further assessment is required, the instructor will contact the student for a follow-up interview.
  • Students who do not complete the questionnaire by September 13 (the final deadline) will not be permitted to remain enrolled in the course.

  • Students in LEC0101 must enrol in TUT0101.

IMPORTANT NOTES: If you do not have the prerequisite NML110Y1, please contact the course instructor for further assessment after enrolling in the course.

NML270Y1

NML370Y1

IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have not completed the prerequisite NML270Y1, you are required to complete the Turkish Language Assessment Questionnaire after enrolling in the course. Please follow the instructions above.

IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have not completed the prerequisite NML260Y1, you are required to complete the Persian Language Assessment Questionnaire after enrolling in the course. Please follow the instructions above.
