"Not Just a Text - Perspectives on Materiality of Cuneiform Tablets"

Speaker: Professor Jana Mynářová (Charles University, Prague)

Jana Mynářová is the Head of the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies (Faculty of Arts, Charles University) and a leading expert on the history, language and palaeography of Late Bronze Age cuneiform texts from Egypt and the Levant (“Amarna Age”). Her talk will offer an overview of physical aspects of tablet-making, treatment and writing conventions, combining textual analysis with new scientific analyses of tablets.
