Coptic Students U of T Associations Fundraising Event

For the second year in a row, the University of Toronto Coptic Students Associations of St. George Campuses and Scarborough campuses organized an inter-church GTA and Southern Ontario volley-ball tournament at Virgin Mary & St. Mark’s Cathedral gym (Markham).

The purpose of the tournament is to raise awareness about Coptic Studies courses offered at NMC and to raise funds for the U of T Coptic Studies Endowment campaign. Over eighty players participated in highly competitive and friendly tournament. The total funds collected amounted to $2,295.

Special thanks to all the participated including Dawn Marie Schlegel, Director of Development Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Father Pishoi Attalla, St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church.

A Dynamic Discussion with Visiting Researcher Haitham Sarhan

Haitham Sarhan a visiting researcher at the University of Toronto and Associate Professor of Classical Arabic literature from Qatar Universtey, recently presented his research contributions including a number of journal articles, conference papers, and studies published in edited volumes, as well as three books in Arabic. The presentation contributed to a lively discussion amongst all that participated.
