Biography
Carla’s doctoral thesis focuses on royal military pageantry in the Amarna and Post-Amarna Periods and how this relates to the conceptualization and practice of Egyptian imperialism. From 2014-2019 Carla researched and catalogued ancient Egyptian and Meroitic artefacts at the Royal Ontario Museum. She joined the University of Memphis and UQAM’s epigraphic project at the Temple of Karnak in 2019, and the Austrian Archaeological Institute’s excavations at Kom Ombo in 2021. From 2015-2021 her doctoral studies were funded by the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, as well as the Dr. Mercer Scholarship in Near Eastern and Islamic Studies in 2020.
