The Canadian Society for Coptic Studies (CSCS) presents the 14th Annual Coptic Studies Symposium "Iconography and Hagiography: Picturing Holiness in Coptic Christianity".

This event is co-sponsored with the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, University of Toronto and the Coptic Museum of Canada.

SYNOPSIS
The 14th annual symposium will explore the links and particularity of the expression of holiness in Coptic iconography and hagiographical texts from Late Antiquity to modern times. Innovations on the visualization of holiness will be discussed from interdisciplinary and methodological perspectives.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Dr. Gertrud J.M. van Loon, Research Fellow at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Faculty of Arts, Near Eastern Studies.
Will be joined by scholars from Australia, Canada, Egypt, France, Sweden, and the UK.
