Description

The Archeology and Cultural Heritage of Gaza:
From Ancient Prosperity to Modern Challenges

NMC Undergraduate Students' Union (NMCSU) is hosting a lecture with Visiting Professor Mohammedmoin Sadeq on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Abstract:
Situated between Africa and Asia and overlooking the Mediterranean, Gaza has long served as a crossroads of civilizations. Its rich archaeological and cultural heritage – shaped by trade, migration, and empire – reflects millennia of prosperity and exchange. Yet Gaza’s strategic location has also made it a repeated battleground, placing its ancient sites under constant threat. This lecture traces Gaza’s archaeology from the earliest periods to the Islamic era, highlighting key discoveries and the urgent challenges of preserving its cultural legacy today.
